The McKinley Presidential Library & Museum will hold its annual McKinley Day celebration on Saturday, January 29 from 9:00 to 4:00. McKinley Day commemorates the anniversary of the President’s birth on January 29, 1843.
Civil War re-enactors, special shows in Discover World, and an open hearth cooking demonstration in the Street of Shops will also be featured. Special new exhibits will be on view in Discover World. McKinley Day will be the final day to view the Smithsonian traveling exhibit The White House Garden in the Keller Gallery.
A William McKinley impersonator will present first person talks on the President’s life throughout the day. The Hoover-Price Planetarium will present the show “Matters of Size,” exploring the great distances and differences in the size of objects in our universe, including the universe itself.
A highlight of the festivities will be a moving wreath-laying ceremony, where a General representing the White House will place a wreath at the bust of President McKinley, located just outside the Museum building.
Discounted admission to the Museum is $5 per person for this special celebration of President McKinley’s birthday. Museum members are admitted free. For more information, please call the Museum at 330-455-7043. The Museum is located at 800 McKinley Monument Drive NW in Canton.
Stay overnight at Whispering Pines and we will include the admission fee for this event.
I’ll look forward to seeing you soon,
