Atwood Lake Region of Ohio – Getaway Itinerary for Whispering Pines Bed & Breakfast

I created a getaway itinerary for six (6) days when you stay at Whispering Pines Bed & Breakfast. Follow all six or choose one or two, depending on the amount of time you have. Day 1 will follow and for the next five weeks I’ll present the other day trips.

Atwood Lake has 28 miles of scenic shoreline and the lake views from our Bed & Breakfast are spectacular. So let’s begin Day 1 with your ‘lake adventure’.

On those nice warm days begin your vacation getaway leisurely cruising Atwood Lake on a comfortable pontoon boat. Rental is from Atwood Lake Marina East; however, our guests enjoy a special rate. You can also rent a kayak or bring your own. There are several coves to explore, two swimming areas designated for boaters or drop anchor anywhere on the lake for fishing. We’ll supply the towels. For lunch pull into a dock at the west marina and dine at The Lighthouse Bistro on their outdoor patio. By the end of the day you will feel totally relaxed and ready to sit at the fire pit roasting s’mores and sipping on a bottle of wine from AlBi Winery located right on the lake. For a fantastic dinner, JC Wine Cellars is the perfect choice.

Visit the Grand Re-opening of McCook House Civil War Museum and stay overnight at Whispering Pines Bed & Breakfast

May 11, 2011 – 9:50 pm

After undergoing a major $500,000 renovation, the Ohio Historical Society’s McCook House Civil War Museum in Carrollton will reopen on Friday May 20th. A full day of activities are planned for Saturday and Sunday including a Civil-War encampment.

The 1837 Federal Style brick house was built by Daniel McCook who along with his eight sons, two brothers and six nephews, served to preserve the Union. The family became known as the “Fighting McCooks” because of their combined military service.

This opening coincides with the observance of the Civil War’s 150th anniversary. There are many civil war stories in Ohio and this is one that should not be missed.

We invite you to stay overnight at Whispering Pines Bed & Breakfast while visiting the McCook House.

Finding Friends at Whispering Pines Bed & Breakfast

We have always been fortunate to attract beautiful male and female Hummingbirds. Sometimes we have a few and at other times we have had up to a dozen. They buzz around all day long humming their wings and fighting with each other. But the strangest thing happend the other day. A gorgeous Baltimore Oriole stopped by to check out our bed and breakfast for building a nest. He spotted the Hummingbird feeder and enjoyed sipping on the sugar water. One of our overnight guests had his camera in hand and was able to snap a picture of the two of them dining together and forming a friendship. He stayed for a couple of days and then disappeared to set up his nest elsewhere.

Atwood Lake Bed and Breakfast Carroll County Events Ohio lodging Romantic Bed and Breakfast Things to do

Blissfully Chocolate and our Ohio Bed and Breakfast

May 4, 2011 – 6:56 pm

Who doesn’t love chocolate? I know I do in everything from candy to brownies to drinks.

On Tuesday, June 7th, the 4th annual Blissfully Chocolate event will take place at the Days Inn in Carrollton from 5 to 8 pm. There will be approximately 10 vendors showcasing anything chocolate. You can sample and purchase. All proceeds will help the Downtown Carrollton Business Association decorate for the Christmas season.

Why not stay overnight on June 7th and we will include the $10 per person ticket for each of you.
