Sometimes you come across a special place that really leaves an imprint—a place truly unique that calls you to go back and visit again. Historic Zoar Village is one of those places. Founded in 1817, a group of German Separatists made this settlement one of the most successful in American History. Today, the entire village is peppered by unique homes built from the start until now and the families that live there are proud and dedicated to upholding their historic roots. Museums, wonderful architecture and friendly people make this village the perfect backdrop for the annual Harvest Festival and Antique Show.
This year marks the 41st anniversary for this fun event, which will take place August 2-3, 2014 and every time it comes around, it truly does not disappoint. If you will be staying with us at Whispering Pines, this is a great activity to enjoy during your time here. Over sixty high-quality antique dealers will have booths of all sorts of pieces and treasures. There is a craft show, art show, exhibit and sale and the opportunity to watch demonstrations by period craftspeople. When you are ready for a break, hop on a horse-drawn wagon ride, grab some lunch and tour around the historic neighborhoods and house museums.
