What or who comes to mind when you think of R&B music? Depending on when you were born or who your parents blasted in the car on road trips, we probably all have a different favorite artist that we can recall. R&B is a style of its own that has truly put its stamp on the history of music. It evolved in the late 1940s and truly laid the foundation for rock and roll. The term Rhythm and Blues was actually first used by Billboard Magazine. It was an African-American sound that came with roots in blues and jazz but partnered with a rocking beat that made it one of the most popular choices for dancing back then. The lyrics were about everyday life and the melodies so catchy and soothing at the same time that it became a style of music that truly left an imprint from the start.
The R&B Hall of Fame Museum exists solely to pay homage to this style of music that has a deep history some of the most memorable artists of our time. It is actually the only official institution that memorializes all that have contributed to the Rhythm and Blues genre. They collect, preserve, exhibit, and educate about the various aspects Rhythm and Blues Music and started an induction ceremony last year to honor the greats that have contributed so much.
