Man and woman playing guitars at the Yankee Peddler FestivalHear ye! Hear ye! The Yankee Peddler Festival is coming up! Have you ever wondered what it may have been like to live in the pioneer days 200 years ago? The American pioneer was a true voyager—talented in many trades, not afraid of hard work and full of courage. Pioneers were the brave souls who traveled west to settle and develop new areas. They explored new territory in search of a new life and many of the booming areas we have today started with these courageous, hardworking groups of people.

The Yankee Peddler Festival has been going on for 42 years and there is a reason for that—it is simply a fun, extremely well organized event that provides an experience to remember. It will take place over three separate weekends: September 6-7, 13-14, and 20-21, 2014 from 10:30am until 6:00pm. Experience pioneer America for yourself as you sample food from colonial days, visit with militia and mountain men, make crafts, and watch demonstrations from master crafters and artisans. Puppets, storytelling, live music, face painting, and more will be taking place on various stages. Food vendors such as Hoot Owl Roost, Militia Meadow, and Quail Hollow will be offering delightful dishes such as apple fritters, cider, creamed chicken and biscuits, Stromboli, turkey legs, pumpkin rolls and strawberry shortcake. Mmmm—our mouths are watering already! Town criers Man dressed in full pioneer costumecontinually keep visitors updated on all that is happening throughout the day so you don’t miss out on anything
