Combine an overnight stay at our romantic bed and breakfast overlooking beautiful Atwood Lake with a visit to the Canton Art Museum and we will include the cost of two ticket’s. Just mention this blog.

Focus: Fiber 2011, a juried triennial exhibition of contemporary fiber art, will be on display at the Canton Museum of Art from December 2 through March 4, 2012. Hosted in coordination with the Textile Art Alliance of the Cleveland Museum of Art, Focus: Fiber 2011 features the best of contemporary textile/fiber work and pushes the boundaries of the medium — merging ancient and new techniques in exciting and surprising ways.

Focus: Fiber 2011 features 50 works by 39 artists, ranging from miniature to very large wall pieces, as well as 3 dimensional works using non-traditional materials such as tea bags and dryer lint. Two hundred and seventy-eight pieces were submitted from an eight state region — Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. The submissions varied from installation and performance works, to innovative re-visioning of traditional textiles. Entries were juried by internationally recognized fiber artist Dorothy Caldwell, of Hastings, Ontario. Says Caldwell, “Focus: Fiber 2011-12 provides a broad cross-section of work in an important field of contemporary art. I was struck by the audacious use of eccentric fabrics and casual construction – the unpredictable carrier of a message.”

Cake Decorating and Overnight at Whispering Pines Bed & Beakfast

December 3, 2011 – 4:41 pm

The C.A.S.T community theater group will host a cake decorating class with Annabelle Weber, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America.

This class will be held on December 10, 2011 from 10 am – 1 pm at the Carrollton YMCA.

Each participant will take home an 8-inch cake – either a chocolate cake with chocolate peppermint ganache filling and chocolate frosting or a gingerbread cake with white-chocolate ganache filling and vanilla frosting.

A portion of the proceeds will help to fund the theater group.

If you stay 2 nights at our bed and breakfast, Friday 12/9 & Saturday 12/10, we will include the $40 cost of the class. It should be fun, but space is limited so make your reservations by December 7th.

An Ohio Bed and Breakfast Getaway Itinerary

When you stay at Whispering Pines Bed and Breakfast, an Ohio Bed and Breakfast located in Dellroy, Ohio, we have created several day trips for you to choose from. The following is for outdoor things to do. Be sure to say hello to one of many resident frogs.

Horseback riding is a popular activity in the area. Make your reservation at Faith Ranch where they have a horse to fit everyone’s ability and 4200 acres to explore. On your return have lunch at Bluebird Farm for a delightful dining experience. Don’t miss their gift shop and winery. Head on back to the Inn and relax for awhile on the swing, hammock or patio watching the sailboats drift by. You’ll want to leave time for a walk at Atwood Lake Park where there are several trails and a climbing tower where you will get a bird’s eye view of the area. Free entrance to the park for guests of Whispering Pines. This would be a good day to plan dinner at The Lighthouse Bistro which is very close to the park entrance. There is also a bike lane on the south side of the lake about four miles long on each side. You can change this plan by including a canoe ride on the Tuscarawas River. This might be a good day to schedule a massage in the evening.

Clark Gable and Ohio Bed & Breakfast?

Who new? Clark Gable was born in the village of Cadiz, about a 30 minute drive from Whispering Pines Bed & Breakfast. Probably the most successful film acotrs of all time, and this year marks his 110 birthday celebration. It would be a great time to visit the Clark Gable Museum. Who hasn’t watched Gone with the Wind and of course remembers the most memorable American movie quotation of all time “Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn”

Stay overnight and received two (2) free admission tickets to the museum in Clark Gable’s hometown.

Ohio Bed & Breakfast Overnight & Outdoor Play

Two unforgettable historical characters are portrayed in the production of Trumpet in the Land, and The White Savage. Located at the Schoenbrunn Amphitheatre in New Philadelphia, Ohio during June, July and August, you will watch the warm summer nights come alive with beautiful horses, brilliant fire dances and authentic looking costumes. The story begins in 1772 in the heart of the Ohio wilderness in the Ohio Valley during the Revolutionary War and how the native Americans struggle to preserve their peaceful settlement.

Both plays are scheduled on Monday and Tuesday nights, as well as the weekends. Stay at Whispering Pines Bed and Breakfast on Monday or Tuesday and we will include the cost of one ticket ($12). Stay over Monday and Tuesday and we will include the cost of two tickets ($24). This offers applies for any of our beautiful guest rooms.
