Great Restaurant and Overnight Stay at our Romantic Ohio Bed & Breakfast

The other night we had the pleasure of having dinner at a fantastic restaurant call the ‘Table‘ with friends and fellow innkeepers Carol & Herb Steffey of Garden-Gate Get-A-Way Bed and Breakfast.  The restaurant is located in Millersburg, Ohio but is moving to Massillon, Ohio in a few months.

Everything was outstanding including the table setting, presentation, homemade bread to start, entree, and dessert.

I took many pictures and decided to showcase the dessert we had because everyone loves a great taste of sweetness at the end of a perfect meal.  This was a fresh berry tart served with roasted peanuts, a drizzle of chocolate sauce, a shaving of white chocolate and a very light and refreshing mascarpone ice cream.  It was served so creatively on an old piece of roofing slate.

We all had a chance to meet and talk to Kent, the owner and chef extraordinarie and his wife.  A very friendly, and warm couple dedicated to serving fresh, farm to table, clean food without hormones, pesticides, etc.  We wish them much success in the opening of their new restaurant and can’t wait to go again.

On your next visit to Whispering Pines Bed & Breakfast, we will be delighted to reserve a table for you at ‘The Table’.

I’ll look forward to seeing you soon,
 Linda

An Ohio Bed and Breakfast Getaway Itinerary

When you stay at Whispering Pines Bed and Breakfast, an Ohio Bed and Breakfast located in Dellroy, Ohio, we have created several day trips for you to choose from.  The following is for outdoor things to do.  Be sure to say hello to one of many resident frogs.

Horseback riding is a popular activity in the area. Make your reservation at Faith Ranch where they have a horse to fit everyone’s ability and 4200 acres to explore. On your return have lunch at Bluebird Farm for a delightful dining experience. Don’t miss their gift shop and winery. Head on back to the Inn and relax for awhile on the swing, hammock or patio watching the sailboats drift by. You’ll want to leave time for a walk at Atwood Lake Park where there are several trails and a climbing tower where you will get a bird’s eye view of the area. Free entrance to the park for guests of Whispering Pines. This would be a good day to plan dinner at The Lighthouse Bistro which is very close to the park entrance. There is also a bike lane on the south side of the lake about four miles long on each side. You can change this plan by including a canoe ride on the Tuscarawas River. This might be a good day to schedule a massage in the evening.

I’ll look forward to seeing you soon,
Linda

Ohio Bed and Breakfast

One of the restaurants we recommend while staying at Whispering Pines Bed and Breakfast is the Lighthouse Bistro.  This restaurant in located on the west end of the lake, near Atwood Lake Park and at Atwood Lake Marina West.  This time of the year is perfect because they have patio dining overlooking the lake.

Their menu is varied with pasta selections, steak options, several seafood entrees and a variety of salads and sandwiches.  You can also relax with a glass of wine or a martini.

We were there the other night and I had the Alfredo in a Pecorino sweet butter cream topped with sauteed shrimp.  Bill ordered the special of the night – a sirloin steak topped with Bleu Cheese sitting on top of a bed of garlic mashed potatoes.  They were both absolutely delicious, and as you can see, the presentation is lovely as well.

The attire is very casual as a lot of boaters will pull into the docks and eat there.  Open everyday, the Lighthouse Bistro would be a perfect choice for your dining experience.

I’ll look forward to seeing you soon,

Romantic Ohio Bed and Breakfast and Romantic dinner

Yesterday we spent a delightful day in Canton.  We had a couple of appointments and then did several bed and breakfast related errands.  By late afternoon we were quite hungry and decided to go to the new Gervasi Vineyard and Bistro located right smack dab in the middle of Canton.  This 55 acre property is nestled into a huge body of trees, with a nice size pond and about 5 acres of planted vines.  Their plans are for more vines in the near future.  We have been to Napa Valley and several other wine areas around the country, Gervasi is truly a spectacular place.

The grounds are fantastic.  They have planted trees, shrubs, flowers and set up brick pathways where you can wander the grounds.  There are a couple of patios where they will be serving food later in the summer months.  They also have a building called the marketplace where wine, food items and gifts items are located.  A tasting room and a huge pavilon for outdoor events will soon be available as well.

Back to dinner.  We sat at a table overlooking the pond and it was a beautiful view.  We began with a personal size wine tasting of three wines of our choice.  They were delightful.  We then had a pasta with Lobster served in a light cream sauce.  Bill ordered Tuscan Beef Short Ribs that were perfect, fork tender with a wonderful presentation.  I ordered roasted Lemon Chicken served with Veal Risotto – so good.  Of course we had to finish off with dessert, a pana cotta with fresh berries.

I would recommend this to any of our overnight guests.  It’s a short 40 minute drive from Whispering Pines Bed and Breakfast and I know you would thoroughly enjoy your evening.

Hope to see you soon,
Linda

Chocolate Dessert

Bill and I don’t often have the opportunity to go out for a leisurely lunch. With Thanksgiving next week, typically this is a quiet week at the bed and breakfast so we took advantage of our time. We arranged to have lunch with Glenna and Frank, old friends of ours who we haven’t seen in a very long time and met in the middle at a new restaurant. It was well worth the drive as you can see in the photos. Bill and I love dessert, especially chocolate and beautiful presentations.

The Hart Mansion Restaurant is located in Minerva, an easy 40 minute drive from the Inn. It was a bit chilly today, but otherwise a beautiful sunny day. The mansion was built in 1869 and it took three years of renovation, inside and out to open resulting in a very inviting and lovely atmosphere.

Bill had pork tenderloin medallions in a demi-glace that was outstanding. I ordered the lemon shrimp lightly sauteed in a lemon wine sauce served over rice. We both ordered a side of fried green beans. The green beans were lightly coated and fried to a golden brown – absolutely delicious.

We then finished off our lunch with dessert. A very light peanut butter and chocolate mousse pie wedge for our friends. Bill ordered the cranberry bread pudding made with bits of white chocolate and I ordered the chocolate kahlua layer cake. All three items were served with fresh whipped cream and delicately designed with flavored sauce.

We highly recommend the Hart Mansion to our over night guests, it is well worth the drive. And the following morning you will be treated to a wonderful breakfast at Whispering Pines.

Hope to see you soon,
Linda
