On Wesnesday, May 22nd and Thursday, May 23rd, the annual ‘Taste of Canton’ spring festival will return. The place to be is downtown Canton at Market Square between 11:30 am – 9:30 pm.
Foodies will enjoy the best taste from local restaurants in the Canton area along with wine and beer. There will also be an art show and entertainment.

We always are reminded that spring has sprung on Atwood Lake. The annual spring Boat Show will be two weekends at the West Marina. Save the dates if you are looking for a new pontoon:

When staying overnight the weekend of December 1 & 2 at Whispering Pines Bed & Breakfast, be sure to visit Zoar for their annual ‘Christmas in Zoar‘. For only $7 admission it will include all the events and buildings that are open. Other activities include strolling carolers, musical entertainment, private home tours and artisans selling their Christmas crafts.
Of course a visit from Santa, a workshop for kids, live reindeer, horse-drawn wagon rides, food and beverages. Their will also be a candlelight church service on Saturday at 5:15 pm in addition to a tree lighting ceremony at 6.

Carrollton is a small town located 10 miles east of our Bed & Breakfast. The town square is lovely at this time of the year with Christmas decorations. Area merchants have decorated their windows with animated displays to fill you with holiday cheer.
Shop at the Carroll County Arts Center for one of a kind gifts made by local artists. You can also purchase a raffle ticket for the featured Christmas tree that will be raffled off. Closed on Wednesday and Sunday.
Experience a journey back in time when you tour the historic McCook House. Holiday open house on Saturday, December 1st and Sunday, December 2nd. The house is trimmed with charming decorations. Although it is free, they will be accepting donations.
After a delightful day, return to Whispering Pines Bed & Breakfast for a cup of hot tea and cookies.

Last week Bill and I tried out a new restaurant in the Zoar, Ohio area. The restaurant is called Canal Tavern of Zoar and is located on Towpath Rd just off of Rte 212.
We were pleasantly surprised by the quality renovation of the building, the friendly staff and the delicious food prepared by Chef Cameron Krahel. We ordered braised lamb served on a potato pancake and it came with lightly steamed vegetables. The Caesar salad was a perfect size and the dressing was very nice. Save room for dessert – house made Beignets and Tavern made ice cream.
We will definitely find the time to have dinner at the Tavern and highly recommend this restaurant to our overnight guests.
The Tavern is about a 25 minute drive from Whispering Pines Bed & Breakfast and we’ll supply you with the directions. Reservations are required for Friday and Saturday night by calling 330-874-4444.

Whispering Pines Bed and Breakfast ——————————-
This time of the year seems to come upon us so quickly. When visiting Whispering Pines Bed & Breakfast this weekend, be sure to spend a few hours the the 42nd annual Algonquin Mill Fall Festival in Carrollton Ohio. The festival is about a 15 – 20 minute drive from our Bed & Breakfast.
There will be quality Artisans demonstrating their craft and delicious out door made food, so come hungry. On the grounds are log cabins, a schoolhouse and an old bookstore that will be open for touring. In addition, music, dancers, wagon rides and antique cars and tractors will be on display.
The festival begins on Friday, October 12th and runs through Sunday, October 14th.
On your way to the festival, stop by the McCook House, a Civil War museum on the square in Carrollton for a tour.

This weekend is the annual fall festival located at the park on Atwood Lake in Dellroy, Oh. The colors are beginning to look very bright and by the weekend I’m sure they will be even more vibrant. There will be home made food vendors, artisans and crafters selling their unique items. Music and entertainment along with civil war re-enactments will take place daily. On Sunday, the car show is always fantastic and will take you down memory lane. The park also has several walking trails.
So why not spend your getaway weekend at our Ohio Bed & Breakfast and when you return from the festival, Linda’s chocolate chip cookies will be waiting for you.

The Glenmoor Gathering will present outstanding automobiles and motorcycles on Saturday, September 15 and Sunday, September 16. This is Bill’s most favorite car show to attend and as usual is looking forward to it.
Visit the Glenmoor Country Club website for a description of some of the supercharged auto’s, sports cars and motorcycles that will be on display.
Some of the weekend activities will include the Passport Transport Countryside Tour, a cocktail party, Gala Dinner, and cooking demonstrations along with automotive authors selling their books.
On Sunday, there will be the usual display of Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Maseratis, and Porsches.

Fall Festival of Art on Saturday, September 15 located at Studio Arts and Glass in Canton, Ohio.
Artists will be selling hand blown glass, sculpture, jewelry and fall items. You can sign up for a class to make a wreath or another craft class. There will also be music and free refreshments. It will certainly make for a nice afternoon.
